I would like to share a sighting that I had on Highway 68 between Sweetwater and Madisonville, TN. Jan and I had drove this route way over 100 times because it is a main road between the 2 towns. And when riding as a passenger I think that everyone gets use to what landmarks are along the roads they most frequent.
You could be driving along and notice "Hey look the ? planted a new tree or bush or whatever it be". You just notice out of place things like this. I am sure everyone knows where I am coming from on this.
But anyhow, Jan was driving along and it was in the early sunset part of evening. The sun had just went below the crest, and it was still bright enough to not need the headlights. We were heading east toward Madisonville almost to the Lost Sea entrance. There is a slight corner that you take around to the right with a group of cedar trees clumped together. So far a normal drive.
As we were close enough to the cedar trees I noticed a new bush about 15 yards off the side of the road to the right past the cedar trees. Now the right is on my side because I was co-pilot. There use to be a pasture fence years ago that was in line with this new bush. There are still 2 fence posts close to each other there. The farmer had not cut for hay yet so the grass was about knee high. Now this bush was around 5ft before the first fence post.
As we kept getting closer and closer I just thought "that is odd, there was never a bush there before, that is where the farmer drives into the field from off the road". As we were driving past I turned my view to the passenger door window, at the point of being right next to this out of place bush, I saw a kind of a gorilla looking face but not really. And the eyes had so much feeling, the eyes were looking right back at me.
It took me about an 1/8 of a mile to really comprehend what I had just witnessed. Jan is the type of driver that you just don't blurt out "stop". If you do, the brakes are slammed on and you are rear ended. So we are driving further away and I calmly but excitedly say "I just saw a Bigfoot". By now we were around the next larger corner and scooting along at 55 mph. Jan asked if she should turn around so we could go back and I could check again, I said it is probably to late and that I know what I saw.
I will never forget the feeling that overcome me when I looked at the Forest Friends eyes as we drove by. Every time we go by that spot now, I am looking for that bush that was never there before, and you know what, that bush is gone like it had never been there.
That was a time that I should of had the camera with and ready, but that sighting was never expected there.
This is not a fiction story, it happened to me.
