November 18, 2006 XXX, XXX Today at 12:30 PM I returned from grocery shopping. Where we park is on the east side of the house, facing a deep ravine. As I came up the driveway, before I got to the house, I looked across the ravine to the hill on the other side. There I saw something that I first thought was an unusual tree stump. It was very dark brown or black, I couldn't tell which. There was something strange about it and I kept my eyes on it as I rolled forward slowly. We were at roughly the same level despite the ravine. I was on one side it was on the other. The "stump" then shifted to its left and looked directly back at me. It was a human-sized Bigfoot. It was not a giant, so I assume it was a juvenile.
I could see it raise its eyebrows and see its eyes become larger as it looked at me, as if it was thinking, "Uh oh, I've been caught!" It was literally a very humorous expression. I think I had a similar expression on my face too. I didn't react at the time. I don't know why. We locked eyes for 4-5 seconds and I stopped the car where we normally park. I broke eye contact when I stopped and reached over into the right-hand seat to pick up some sacks and I took the keys out of the ignition.
Then it dawned on me that I had just seen something that was very, very strange and I looked back. It was gone. In just a few seconds it vanished from that position and was nowhere to be seen.
The creature I saw was, as I said, very dark brown or black. I would estimate it to be approximately the size of a normal man. It was not large or thick through the body. Trim, but healthy-looking. The face was black. I do not know if it was covered with hair or if the skin was black. Its eyes were very prominent and wide with surprise. It leaned around the tiny tree it was sitting behind to look at me. The tree was approximately five inches in diameter, but the creature behaved as though he believed it was hiding him. He stuck out on both sides of it. His right leg was stuck out straight and his left leg was curled under it. The hair on its body was short, not shaggy. It was leaning around the small tree towards its left side with its left arm on the ground supporting it. I could see a gap between its body and its arm. It appeared to be in a relaxed position. There was a look of shock or surprise on its face, an expression that was easy for me to read. It was not expecting to be seen at all.
The weather was light overcast, plenty of light, mid-thirties in temperature. I came into the house and my husband was asleep, as he had gotten up before dawn to go deer hunting in our woods. Today was opening day of deer season for firearms and we heard gunfire in all directions throughout the day. He came in at 11:30 and was asleep by 12:00. I did not wake him up. I cannot explain why I didn't. I got the groceries out of the car and laid down next to him and fell asleep.
When we woke up at approximately 3:00 PM I told him about my experience. He questioned me very carefully about it and the more I talked the more excited I became. I began laughing at the silly expression I remembered on the creatures face and told my husband I probably looked the same way at that moment. We got up and walked around the ravine to the tree where I had seen the creature. There was very little disturbance in the leaves on the ground but a small depression behind the tree was visible, as was some disturbed leaves that led off to the east, away from my car and the house. There was nothing we saw that could be called a "track", but it was evident that something had moved through there recently.
My husband has long believed there are Bigfoot in this area, and has collected several local reports from people who have seen them. I was something of a skeptic until this afternoon, although my husband has had two nighttime and one-daylight sightings.
After we walked to the tree where I had seen the young Bigfoot, on the return to our house I got "a case of the shakes." The reality of what I had seen was soaking in. It was some kind of delayed reaction. I knew what I was seeing at the time but somehow it did not register in my mind. I'm still now a little jittery, but as my husband says, "if they wanted us they would have gotten us a long time ago." He encouraged me to write this report as quickly as possible while this was all still fresh in my mind. I'm still having all kinds of thoughts about what happened this afternoon, but of the sighting I am absolutely certain of what I saw. It was a living creature. I saw its face and its expression. The range from where I stopped the car to where the creature was sitting was probably fifty yards or less, it was broad daylight. There was no fog or rain or wind that could have played tricks on my vision. What I saw was really there.
