Jan and I are from TN. and I am not missing the snow and cold from up north. I did live in Illinois for a lot of years. I guess that I have gotten to old to play in the snow!!

Jan and Tom,
Nice to meet you both. I actually found the website searching other forums for Jan's book. I have read bits and pieces online, but can't seem to locate one for sale. The program by NG I watched sometime ago featuring Jan's farm really sparked my interest in BF again. I have been interested for many years, but only in an armchair research stand point. Of course, here on the Cumberland plateau there appears to be some prime BF habitat. Sighting wise, I can't say I have heard of any. I am still about 80 percent believer and 20 percent skeptic. I certainly believe in the scientific approach and I work in the field of technology and do a lot of low light digital video capture. I need some in person evidence to close that 20 percent door.

Yes, the Scientific approach is the way that all Researchers need to go. Whom would be more happy than the Scientists themselves to have the evidence presented in this way. You have to document everything on paper of evidence collection and better yet have it video taped or pictures taken.
It would be great to hear if you have any techniques that you could share with all Researchers of the best means possible.
Jan and I do have Buccal Swab kits #4085 from Evident Crime Scene Products. It is great how they have the sterile package with gloves and all. It is to bad that they do not also include sterile tweezers in the package. Tweezers are not hard to boil, but if you were taking them out of the freshly opened sterile package with the gloves on, you could prove more of no Human contamination. The Scientist's will always find human DNA though, they are a type of Human.

Great to have you with us. I had to laugh after Tom contacted you and we learned you were not all that far from us. It's a small world after all. Hopefully when we all get over this old flu that has been running like wild fire throughout TN we can actually meet each other. Know that I was feeling pretty poorly earlier this evening. Better now, probably going to take a relapse because I'm sitting up again. I just wished to welcome all newcomers to the forum.
We no longer sell the book, but I have a copy that I will lend you to read if you would like.
We do try to keep to a scientific approach, but some areas of development don't have a science to better explain them. So some of this is based on more personal experience than actual science, ie physic abilities.
Consider that door about to close. It only takes one time to dissolve that little bit of skepticism. Believe you me, you don't have a bunch of TN Hill Billy's running around telling tall tales just to keep you out of the woods.
Yours,
Jan

Jan,
Hope your feeling better. You shouldn't push it too soon, but thanks for the warm welcome.
I would love to read the book. I spend a lot of my spare time reading up on our big hairy buddies. I will admit one thing, I'm a pretty good sized fellow, 6'1" 250lbs and don't fear too many things, but if I actually went face to face with a creature like so many have described, I'm afraid I would soil a perfectly good pair of shorts..ha ..ha...:D Honestly, I don't know how I would react. It's an issue that makes the curiosity out weigh the fear.
I think that it's cool that there are several qualified researchers in the area and plenty of knowledge to share. I just hope over time I can contribute something myself. I have always been know as a "jack of all trades" , but have never applied any of my skills in this field. Like I posted earlier, just an armchair researcher so far.
You guys need to get better so we can get together. I can't wait to hear some of your experiences face to face.
Better get out of here and get back to what I am paid to do. I have a 17 terabyte digital video server that needs my attention.:p
Oh, and hello Steve......Looking forward to meeting you. Thanks for the welcome.
Have a good day guys!

thanks for the reply, their are a lot of areas between you and us, i want to try to hit a lot of them , the cumberland area, standing stone and obed river are good habitat, for these hominids, south fork is darn big, and would have to be off work for a month, just to try to research part of it, we need more people that want to get together, and do what is right , doing research, hope to see you soon as we all get well, flu is finally clearing up, knock on wood, steve and violet
Tennessee is 550 miles long and 1/ 4th high. No wonder called 3 State. I live in the mountainous section in the East. Jan and Tom somewhere before the Cumberland plaeau and the flatland in the West.
Plenty of forest lands and Forest Folks will be happy in all area of this great state.
Again welcome to this great state.
