View Full Version : Chickens
While looking over a place in Western North Carolina near Linville Gorge. I found some signs where Forest people living area. it was near a river and a good place to watch from high up. I was hiking the lower part when I found the signs. So I took a short cut to my car and came upon a farm there. That was a pretty good size farm and it has many chicken. I sit with farmer on his porch and made comment on his many chicken . He stated that they were not a good group of chicken because few eggs he is getting out of that many chickens. I left and went to my car and went home.
So Folks, What and who is taking those eggs from a big group of chickens. I recall the farmer had a Boston Terrier and a big male cat. His chicken must be into hundreds. Had a cow and a mule. He did stated a few chicken goes missing once in a while.

a friend on mine and a researcher, heard on the scanner that some thing wierd was going on in his county, they went there and the whole place was full of cops, and they was investigating, a whole chicken house with its door rip off and all the chickens where just killed and pulled apart and scattered all over the place, none was eaten at all, apparently what happened, the farmer had shot at some thing big in the woods with his shot gun, later that night, he went to town to get some food and came back , and found the chicken house and chickens all destroyed, when the cops got their , the gate was stretched apart, not ripped or torn, and the big heavy door to the chicken house was ripped off the hinges, and the dead chickens torn to small pieces, and scattered all over the ground, they found huge human type foot prints , all over the place, but with 30 cops going all over the place, it ruined them, except the ones going in to the dark deep woods, and no cop wanted to go there for any reason,
are taking those eggs and some of the chickens for breakfast and supper. Back when I was little my Grandfather had over two hundred chickens all hens in a long chicken house that he kept in wire cages that the eggs they laid would roll down into this tray and we could gather each day. Now mind you the opening under the wire going to the tray was not large enough for the hens to get out of nor form us to stick our hands under and grab the hens. However Fox and his family members would take the eggs and they would ever so often run their hands under the wire bending it out of proportions to get the hens and kill and eat them. After a while of this happening my Grandfather gave up on the hen and egg business as we were not getting many eggs and our hens went missing at ten to twenty a week.
Then when I was in my late teens I was in 4-H and took on fifty chicks to raise for a science project and to show at the fair the next fall. These were Rhode Island Reds and good chickens. By the time the fair came around I only had one hen and one rooster left to show. Fox and his family had killed and eaten every one of the others within a few weeks of our turning them out in the chicken lot. We had kept them on the back enclosed porch of the house in hopes they would not get to them before hand, but they got to big to keep inside and were messy so we turned them out and BINGO open chicken a la king smorgas board style for the local Forest Friends.

a friend of the family used to raise chickens and his started disappearing. he assumed it was a fox or coyote. then one night he heard a lot of commotion out in the coop. when he looked out he saw a large hairy man reaching around into hen house. he called my dad and grabbed his gun. he watched the creature walk off towards the woods, but couldnt shoot it because it was too human like. upon closer inspection on thr hen house, it was dicovered the he had left a few large clumps of hair up high on the door frame from where his shoulders rubbed.
