Thank you for allowing me to join your forum . I have looked at a few forums that deal in this subject . I have fond them to be competitive and angry and unpleasant . For those reasons I did not join them . I believe I have had encounters twice . Never saw them but was shown impressive displays . The first one was while gold mining on the upper calapooia river . I had been up there dredging for about 4 days alone . Nothing happened . Then I was joined by some friends and family and that evening just beyond a bend i the river , large rocks were being thrown off of a small drop off down into the river bed . This went on for about an hour . The rocks were being thrown harder and more often at the end . Finally because som children were getting frightened , I fired a shot in the air from my rifle . The rifle was there for protection from humans not anything that lives up there . The rock throwing stopped but I felt like I was being watched the rest of the night and into the next day . I decided to leave since the feeling I was getting was hostile . Before I left me and my buddy went up around the bend and found some of the rocks that had been thrown . We could not lift any of them . I am a large man and can lift a pot bellied stove into the back of a pick up by myself. I figure the rocks that were thrown were between 300 lbs. and some over 500 lbs. .
The second one I have always been reluctant to discuss . It was the day after my mother passed away . I was drinking , as a matter of fact I was fairly intoxicated when it happened . I was very close to my mom and my family freaked out when I started to cry , so i immediately shut off my grief and bottled it up . I do not abstain , but I usually do not over indulge either . It was the first time I had drank in a few years , and the first time I had been intoxicated in more than 10 years .For those reasons I will not put the details up here unless asked to .
I really look forward to being a member of this forum , with its lack of hostility , willingness to consider new ideas . I think the best part is a seeming lack of egotism I have found here .
