Now when I post this I would love an explanation about what it could have been.I do believe it was bigfoot himself, and I have never been able to shake this memory. This took place up in Twin Lakes, Colorado. My parents had bought quite a bit of land up there. Every summer we went up for a week or two, and sometimes quick weekend trips as well. We would fish at Twin Lakes, and it was a nice place to relax and enjoy Summer time. Anyhow, this took place during one of those times in the 1980's I was 8 years old. My family was packing up the camp to head home, and my Dad suggested I take my dog for a walk so he could relieve himself and get some exercise before the long ride home. I was hesitant, because the night before we heard strange howlings around our area, that did not sound like wolves, or coyotes. In fact, my Dad was perplexed by it himself, and my dog was whining and hiding near my Father. We also heard what sounded like a large animal walking around our camp area, while we were sitting next to our fire. So, I was pretty creeped out from the night before.
Now our property was basically on a hill, so i had to walk uphill to go around the area. I do remember being uneasy, and hearing what sounded like something following me. I kept looking behind me and all around me in general. My dog would hear it as well, because he would perk his ears up and look behind us, and that freaked me out. We got to the top of the hill, when my dog stopped and started growling at something near us, behind some trees. Our property had a ton of trees on it, so it was hard to find if anyone was actually following us, you couldn't easily look through the trees. Back to the story, my dog was growling, snarling, barring his teeth, and his hair was standing on end. I told him to stop it because it freaked me out. I then looked up and saw a black mass, that was really tall standing next to a tree.I didn't see a face or any features, it was like the back was turned towards us. My dog leaped and the leash fell out of my hands. He ran towards, it ran off very fast. I heard another sound behind me, did not turn around and ran off, screaming for my dog.
My Dad who was packing up caught my dog before he ran further off into the woods, and I ran into my Dad. I told him what had happened, and he said he believed me , he said before our he saw our dog he heard something running downhill, very loudly, and ran past the camp, he caught something blurry run past that looked big, that was how described it,then he saw the dog, and me. We finished packing up, and quickly I might add, and as we were leaving I looked behind but didn't see anything. To this day I do believe we had a bigfoot encounter.
